Community Bible Church, Omaha, Nebraska, is seeking an energetic and gifted pastor to oversee a thorough adult discipleship strategy, consistent with the mission and vision of CBC – to know Christ intimately and share Him lovingly.

The candidate must be passionate about their personal relationship with Jesus Christ and have a genuine interest in the spiritual needs of others. Strategic planning and organizational skills are essential. Strong relationship building a must – naturally outgoing and relational. Spiritually mature with high emotional intelligence. A gifted communicator.

A bachelor’s degree required, a master’s degree a plus; some level of formal biblical/ministry training is necessary. Experience in local church ministry preferred.  The priority of this role is to give direction to an overall discipleship strategy using small groups, men’s and women’s ministries and adult Bible classes. In addition, this individual will have a regular teaching role and opportunities to preach in our worship services.

This position will report to and work closely with our Lead Pastor.

Who is Community Bible Church?
Community Bible Church is a healthy, vibrant, multigenerational church of about 400. In the next year, plans are in place to move to a new location enabling greater opportunity to reach our community and help believers grow in the Lord. Offering three Sunday morning worship gatherings (8, 9:30, 11am), services at CBC focus on faithful, biblical teaching with a contemporary and engaging style of worship. Along with the main services for adults, CBC offers Sunday morning ministries for children and youth. A strong small group emphasis and a thriving Wednesday night ministry which includes a family meal and Awana, helps those of all ages grow spiritually.

Job Description

Purpose
The Pastor of Discipleship is responsible to initiate and oversee a comprehensive adult discipleship strategy consistent with the mission and vision of CBC.
Discipleship
1. Develop and administrate an overall adult discipleship strategy using but not limited to ...
        a. Fellowship Groups
        b. Men’s and Women’s Ministries
        c. Adult Bible Classes
2. Train and equip Fellowship Group leaders
3. Encourage all adults (college – seniors) at CBC to grow as disciples of Jesus by using appropriate
and effective tools and resources
Preaching/Teaching
1. Teach regularly in small groups, Bible classes, and other ministry settings
2. Preach, approximately 6-8 times annually
Administration and Oversight
1. Serve as staff liaison to teams associated with adult discipleship (men, women, outreach)
2. Maintain a discipling relationship with team leaders
3. Participate in staff meetings
4. Assist in pastoral duties (public services, visitation, and other ministries) as requested/needed
