The elders recently considered this matter and decided that CBC would not share the names of donors who give to missionaries through the church. There are a number of reasons for this but primarily it is due to the fact that unless we check with the donor we have no idea if they wish to remain anonymous or not. Some may wish to give to a missionary in a quiet and unrecognized manner. We want to honor this. In order to determine otherwise, we would need to check with the giver and this is simply too time consuming for our volunteers. Of course, as people give to a project or particular offering (like Advent Conspiracy or our recent World Missions Festival projects for the Wiens and Sonius families) we have never shared the individual names of those who gave. The gift comes from Community Bible Church, not from a list of particular donors.

So, God bless you as you continue to support missionaries around the world. Simply remember that gifts given through the church will not have your name attached to the gift, and therefore missionaries will not know of your involvement. If you wish to partner with a missionary in a recognized way, the gift will need to be sent directly to the missionary’s sending agency. You may contact the church office for assistance in doing this. Generally speaking, missionaries prefer the latter so they can thank and communicate with those who give.

During these meetings we are offering nursery and childcare for children up through 6^th grade.

During the meeting the children will view the newest work by Phil Vischer, Clive and Ian’s Wonderblimp of Knowledge. In this video the children will learn the answers to some big questions: “Can I count on God? Does God love me when I do bad things? What should I do when I am afraid?” These questions and more will be addressed in a child-friendly format and in terms they can easily understand.

Out in the wide-open spaces, we’ll discover a colorful old town where all the excitement of the Wild West awaits! In SonWest, we’ll celebrate all the fun of being buckaroos! There’ll be food, games, music, crafts—and amazing true stories that point you and your kids to Jesus! Ride with us under the deep blue skies. Feel the breezes rise through the shady purple canyons as we head out through this bright wilderness—we’re traveling down the trail through the Old Testament stories of Moses to discover God’s ultimate plan of salvation in Jesus, because “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). So come on! Rustle up your kids and head on over to SonWest Roundup 2013 VBS for a rip-roarin’ good time!

The evening begins at 5:15pm with a free meal to every child and volunteer. At 6:00pm everyone will meet in the sanctuary for a time of songs and skits. Throughout the remainder of the evening the children will have the opportunity to hear a Bible story, work on a craft and play some fun games! They will meet together again in the sanctuary and will be dismissed at 8:00pm.

We will also have a signup table in the lobby each Sunday for both volunteers and students. We will be there to answer any questions you may have about this summer’s VBS. Need answers before then? We need YOU…

We are thankful for the number of volunteers who have responded to our recent requests for help during our VBS; however, we still have several positions available. Primarily we need people to help during the meal time. We need table leaders, preferably adults, who would be willing to sit at a table and help the children throughout the meal. This person would help them as needed and when all the children at his table is finished, would escort them to the sanctuary where we will have a film showing. We also need meal escorts, preferably teenagers, who would walk the children through the food line and help them get their meal. The escort would then take them to a table with a leader and go back for another child. If you are willing to fill any of these positions please visit our online volunteer registration at cbcomaha.org and fill out the form.

We would like to ask you to write a simple spiritual blessing for your senior as they graduate from high school. These will be read during the video showing each senior’s pictures.

As you write your blessing for your senior, let me encourage you with a few thoughts.

• First, please keep them short – we will need to be able to read it in about 60 seconds.

• Second, feel free to share personal and special thoughts, but be mindful of your senior and please do not include anything that would be embarrassing to them.

• Most importantly, please let this be a spiritual blessing for your teenager. In Scripture we see the power of blessing another person over and over again. You have an opportunity on this special day to bless your child in the presence of friends and family. They may not even fully appreciate it until later in life, but what a tremendous gift you will be bestowing upon your child as we read your blessing over them.

How do I write a spiritual blessing for my senior? You may want to use this simple process…

• Today, as you graduate, my prayer for you is…

• May God use you to serve His kingdom by…

• May you always remember…

• And finally, I urge you to…

It would be appropriate to use Scriptures that have been special to your senior or to your family as you write your blessing. Please fill out the blessing form below and click “Submit.”
