Revelation: Understanding the Future

While the Book of Revelation is primarily about the future, it is the most Old Testament oriented book in the New Testament. This means that it brings together the completion of God’s plan for history, as begun in the Old Testament. Truly Revelation is the capstone of Scripture. Revelation reveals a satisfactory conclusion to the many events introduced in Genesis.

It is said that you need to know where you came from (Genesis) and where you are going. Revelation tells us the destiny of the heavens and the earth. Revelation also reveals the personal destinies for individuals. Knowledge of this information provides meaning and purpose in the lives of individuals when they learn where they fit into God’s overall plan for the universe.

Seventy percent of the Book of Revelation is about the seven-year period of time known as the Tribulation. Learn an in-depth profile about that period that will take place after the rapture, which ends our current church age. We can see the key players, mindset, and nations already being prepared in our own day. God is setting the stage for the next phase of history that is foretold in the Book of Revelation.

Join us Thursday evenings at 7:00pm for a study of the book of Revelation. Dr. Tommy Ice will lead us through this twelve week summer study. The study begins June 7. Contact us if you need childcare for this time and we will provide it for you.

Vacation Bible School
June 11-14, 2012
for all kids age 3 to entering 6th grade

SonRise National Park – 2012
Click the button below to access the VBS site in order to sign up.

Get ready for exciting wilderness thrills as you head out to beautiful SonRise National Park! Kids will be awestruck by snow-capped mountains, thundering waterfalls, wildflower meadows bursting with color, and amazing animals like soaring eagles, friendly huskies, and herds of caribou. As kids explore SonRise National Park, they’ll learn the most important survival skill of all: they can always depend on Jesus and His promises of true peace, true riches, true power, true love, and true hope! At SonRise National Park, kids will learn to trust Jesus as their all-powerful guide and Savior!

The evening begins at 5:15pm with a free meal to every child and volunteer. At 6pm everyone will meet in the sanctuary for a time of songs and skits. Throughout the remainder of the evening the children will have the opportunity to hear a Bible story, work on a craft and play some fun games! They will meet together again in the sanctuary and will be dismissed at 8:00pm.

We are now accepting VBS registrations – click the button above to sign up. We have forms for both students and volunteers! If you do not have access to the internet, we will have a signup table in the lobby each Sunday for both volunteers and students. We will also be there to answer any questions you may have about this summer’s VBS. Need answers before then? Contact Daniel Bear at 402.339.7857.

Hey, kids! Want to earn a cool award?
The following awards will be given to the child within his/her group who brings the most friends. Have them enter your name as their friend when they register at cbcomaha.org to receive credit for inviting them.
VBS “Invite-A-Friend” Awards!

• 3-5 year olds – Kids Digital Camera
• 6-7 Year olds – Bicycle
• 8-9 year olds – $50 gift card prize pack
• 10-11 year olds – $50 gift card prize pack

We need YOU…
We are thankful for the number of volunteers who have responded to our recent requests for help during our VBS; however, we still have several positions available. Primarily we need people to help during the meal time. We need table leaders, preferably adults, who would be willing to sit at a table and help the children throughout the meal. This person would help them as needed and when all the children at his table is finished, would escort them to the sanctuary where we will have a film showing. We also need meal escorts, preferably teenagers, who would walk the children through the food line and help them get their meal. The escort would then take them to a table with a leader and go back for another child. If you are willing to fill any of these positions please visit our online volunteer registration by clicking the button below and fill out the form.

Decoration items needed:
We are on the hunt for decorating items! We are looking for camping/hiking gear of all kinds: tents, back packs, sleeping bags, tarps, lanterns, large fake trees, firewood, walking sticks, hiking boots, etc… If you are willing to loan some of these materials, please email Daniel Bear at daniel@cbcomaha.org.

On April 15 we begin new regular Adult Bible Classes on Sunday mornings at 9:30am. See below for more information.

Adult Bible Classes:

Walk This Way, Walk His Way – Effectiveness through the Great Commandment
Teacher: Kevin Shoemaker
Room: 201B

As Christians we are challenged to “perfect our walk” or strive for “spiritual maturity.” Just how do we do this? Author and CBC member Kevin Shoemaker has tried to address this challenge in his book Walk This Way, Walk His Way. Jesus was asked “Teacher, what is the greatest commandment?” Jesus’ answer is the subject of this book and should serve as our true measuring stick in our walk with Christ. Come and learn about a fresh new look at Christian effectiveness.

What the Bible Teaches about Spiritual Warfare
Teacher: Tommy Ice
Room: Gymnasium

When some Christians think of spiritual warfare, they may be consumed with worry about what Satan will do to them next. Others have been taught that they have authority over the demonic host. Still others ignore the spiritual battle being fought right in their midst. This class will focus on what the Bible actually teaches about the battle believers are in each day.

Second & Third John, Jude
Teacher: Steve White
Room: 201A

These personal letters teach and encourage believers to persevere in their faith with joy and great confidence.

You are invited to a Middle East Hope Briefing at CBC on Saturday, April 14 with Dennis Wiens (CBC missionary and SAT-7 U.S. Director of Church Connections), and Dr. Rex Rogers, President of SAT-7 USA. The Middle East Hope Briefing will give an update on the reality of what’s really happening in the Middle East – the news behind the news – and it’s impact on the Church. This is inside information you will not hear on Fox or CNN! Learn more of SAT-7’s increasingly vital role, as a satellite broadcaster for the Middle East and North Africa church.

A complimentary lunch will be served.
Nursery will be provided for small children.
RSVP to the church office at admin@cbcomaha.org.

Based in Cyprus, SAT-7 is a Middle East Christian satellite television ministry broadcasting 24/7 throughout more than seventy countries in the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe. The network supports five channels: SAT-7 ARABIC, SAT-7 KIDS in Arabic, SAT-7 PARS in Farsi, SAT-7 TURK in Turkish, and the newest Arabic family channel, SAT-7 PLUS. The ministry’s mission is to build the Church through non-political and non-partisan, biblically based programming, more than 80% of which is produced in the Middle East by Middle Easterners. In a region characterized by high illiteracy rates and closed countries, SAT-7 broadcasts uncensored Jesus’ message of love, forgiveness, and hope to more than 17 million regular viewers—women and children, rich and poor, urban and rural—in the privacy of their homes. SAT-7’s convergence of theology, technology, and timeliness positions it for greater impact for such a time as this. To learn more visit these websites: www.sat7usa.org and www.middleeasthope.org

We are excited to be able to tell you that we are planning to produce a CBC Church Cookbook this year! We want everyone to contribute lots of recipes. What recipes should you choose? We hope you will each put in your very best recipes, recipes that you cook and share often. Ask yourself what is your simplest company meal, your favorite thing to make when you take a meal to a new mom, the thing you often bring to a potluck, or a recipe that you are known for within your family – these are the types of recipes to contribute.

We will be putting forms in the lobby and a basket to collect the recipes. You may also submit recipes below. You can copy the recipe from whatever card or cookbook it’s in, and it must be stapled to the form with the top portion filled out in order to be submitted. That way we will know who it’s from and what section of the cookbook it belongs in. The goal is to have the cookbook available in the fall so it can be given as a Christmas present. Recipe contributions will need to be made in March and April.

We also are going through our two previous cookbooks and selecting some of the very best recipes from the past to go in this new cookbook. If you have those old cookbooks, we need your votes. The best way to do this is to email your favorites to Lydia Tschetter. We will put in as many of your favorites as we can.

The deadline to submit recipes has been reached!

Thanks to everyone who contributed!
