Kiddie Kollege

Our Philosophy: The purpose of education is to give young people the tools to be life-long learners and to be well-adjusted members of society. To accomplish this, the school, together with the home, must provide an environment that supports and encourages inquisitiveness and creativity. The students must be taught to ask questions and learn where and how to look for answers. The total environment must be supportive by helping build self-esteem, by helping form good relationships with peers and adults, by encouraging the child to take control of her own learning, and by showing the child how to solve conflict by problem solving. Kiddie Kollege accomplishes this task by giving the students many experiences in which they can be successful. KK provides activities that build positive relationships and gives guidance in how to deal with conflicts. Encouragement from the teachers gives the child courage to make choices wherever offered.

Kiddie Kollege continues to strive to be the best possible preparation for the elementary school experience.

Curriculum: Kiddie Kollege's main focus is to prepare young children for Kindergarten and the elementary school experience. Therefore, we introduce the children to all the letters and sounds of the alphabet and let the children practice forming the letters. We also introduce the idea of putting letters' sounds together to form words. Math is introduced with activities that promote counting and using numbers in combinations as in their phone numbers and addresses. Simple addition is introduced naturally as the situation dictates.

Science lessons come naturally with the seasons -- the changing of the seasons, the fall leaves, snow (or rain) and condensation, spring's new growth, etc.
